back from obs!
hello blog, hello civilisation :)
obs was supposedly veh tiring and tough and all of us go thr to feed th mosquitoes one,
but at th end of th whole 5 days, i realised it was actually fun!!
DAY 1:
everyone was divided into two watches : tenzing and shackleton.
i was in tenzing!
along with venus,huiyu,jiayin,qingyi,clemm,rae,tricia,
tingzhen,jonathan,zheng zhang,raimie,wang rui,tzechong,pengsiang and teng foong :D
and of course not forgetting roland! our instructor.
and kerrie! shackleton's instructor.
so when we reached obs camp 2, we did some ice breakers first.
then went to learn how to kayak (!) :D
did th capsize drill, and it was quite scary cuz scared cannot come out of th kayak haha.
paired up w jiayin then tenzing and shackleton played captain's ball in th sea!
quite fun siah, cuz it was my first time kayaking also heheh.
ate lunch! everyone sat in a circle and was v quiet LOL!
ate rations lor, food not say v nice but too hungry until dont care alr :P
learnt how to pitch tent!
then cooked out dinner in th wild also.
had sardine, peanuts, ikan bilis, rice and maggi :)
worst part for tht day was when slping in th tent.
shared tent w huiyu,venus and jiayin.
and then th tent was freaking hot /:
maybe cuz bu xi guan also, then couldnt sleep th whole night keep waking up.
no need to say, next day wake up damn tired x.x
DAY 2:
managed to slp for a few mins here and thr lah.
woke up feeling itchy and tired and counting down to end of obs alr.
had morning pt before eating breakfast.
roland let us write our journal before gng for belaying practice.
it was fun :D
except for th part whr th sun was shining directly at us and it was damn hot.
aft that we had a briefing on th quest we were supposed to go on to search for th holy mud, holy water and holy light :)
we were supposed to kayak for arnd 8 hours for our sea expedition to collect th holy mud.
then trek for arnd 10 plus km for our land expedition to collect th holy water.
aft briefing went to do rock climbing! huiyu imba lor haha.
was quite scared cuz th wall looks difficult to climb but in th end managed to do it whoo!
packed our bagpacks and then we treked to camp 1 for th night!
dinner was th best because it was alr cooked for us :D
they even served supper!
DAY 3:
woke up quite early to go for our sea expedition alr, was kinda excited cuz gna spend 8 hours kayaking :)
kayak partner was brandon!
so it was arnd 7 hour plus on sea.
th swamp part was th most fun when we found th holy mud.
and then all th guys went down and started picking up mud to throw at each other LOL!
aft taking th mud then had to kayak back alr.
ate lunch on th kayak. which means lunch on sea :D
kayaking back to camp 1 was tiring plus face and hands were burnt /:
but in th end we managed to do it!
somemore faster than th time targetted whoo.
bathed and then packed bags agn before treking to camp 3.
tiring ttm!
camp 3 wasnt rly a camp, cuz thr's no light no water no toilets.
toilet was in th forest, which was kinda scary.
when we reached camp 3, had to pitched our tents on some rocky place which was v hard to slp /:
then when we were preparing dinner thr was thunder and lightning alr.
so everyone split.
half cook while half tried to use ponchos and cotton twine to build a shelter.
it was heartwarming :D
cuz everyone was working tgt to fight th 'rain'
but in th end aft an hour plus it dint rain! no fun :(
ate dinner and washed th tins in th dark.
then th guys help came out with a mobile cheer which was kinda interesting lah :D
and apparently, according to qingyi and sharlene there was a shooting star in th sky while we were doing th cheer.
sian i dint manage to see it :(
before sleeping roland and kerrie told us stories again, quite nice lah.
love it when they tell stories or quotations :)
surprisingly tht night i slept damn well siah, maybe cuz too tired alr haha.
DAY 4:
woke up early to clear th place then went for morning pt!
which was actually games lah, veh fun :D
then sat down for watch discussion before having breakfast and setting off for our land expedition.
sadly it rained /:
had to wear ponchos over our heavy bagpacks.
treked in th rain for awhile. guys at th back was being nice by telling jokes to keep th morale of th group up :)
then tingzhen took roland's chicken soft toy and everytime he pressed it, th guys would all do th chicken scream.
quite funny hahaha :D
got lost quite a few times and th mosquitoes was being irritating in th forest :x
everyone took turns to lead and navigate th group.
now and then there would be shouts of 'jiayou' and 'we're reaching' to motivate each other :)
by th time we reached th holy water place it was alr noon. ate lunch and shackleton reached th place too.
changed to wet attire in th forest and then went into th quarry to get our holy water!
did smth like a jetty jump except i was a quarry jump haha.
and th water in th quarry was definitely cleaner and damn shuang :D
played some games inside but dint rly spend a lot of time thr sian.
changed up agn and had to set off to trek back to camp 2 alr.
at first we thought we were gng to go th long way.
then roland brought us to go th shortcut
which was cutting through some unused forest path with thorns and holes and mud /:
it was damn tough and everyone was complaining at first.
but it was roland's way of giving us a new and once in a lifetime experience :)
finally reached camp 2 near evening!
couldnt be more relieved to see tht familiar campsite haha.
bathed and cleaned up.
dinner was th most fun i think :D
cuz thr was long beans and mushrooms and egg and luncheon meat.
definitely a spread compared to our previous meals!!
and best part is, thr are like portable stoves we could use haha and we could make our own dish!
i was in th cutting group with pj, which means help cut th veggies and food :D
quite fun lah haha.
then aft tht me and pj came up with omelette with mushrooms!
but in th end failed and had to become steamed egg with mushroom.
still nice lah, super proud of our dish hee.
aft dinner cleaned up.
roland and kerrie brought us to watch th waves coming from th sea and th lights coming from sg.
th scenery was damn pretty :D
but also veh sad cuz it meant that obs was ending soon :(
we were like given some time to sit thr and just be quiet and listen to th crashing of th waves and th engines of th ships.
wanted to sit thr longer cuz aft obs thr wont be a chance anymore.
but aye, it was 11plus and had to go slp alr.
as usual, was too tired and immediately fell asleep haha.
DAY 5:last day of obs! :(
mixed feelings lah, dont know shud happy or sad.
morning pt with games was fun yet agn!
then had our last time sitting tgt as a watch and sharing our feelings.
tht day everyone thanked each other and roland.
and i realised just how bonded everyone became :)
maybe cuz we faced 5 days of challenges tgt haha.
ate breakfast! then had to packed th equipment stores and our bags alr.
then rly cherished tht little time left when we helped to pack th equipments tgt.
last time working tgt mah.
at around 12 plus all of us gathered to combine our quest items tgt.
turn out it was fake lah haha, but th main purpose was to bring us tgt :)
held hands as a mobile for th last time and listened to roland and kerrie tell us th last story.
got our watch photos and cert also, and for tenzing, th notes we were supposed to write to ur buddy.
presented th decorated leaves that tz they all made for roland and kerrie.
kinda sad lah cuz wont see them agn and they rly guided and helped us through these five days.
but yeah, thr would still be memories :)
board th boat back to sg and bought th obs tee!
got new design siah :D
aft tht bus came to take us back to jp.
fell asleep on th bus, too tired haha.
ate lunch at kfc with some of them, managed to squeeze in kfc with our large bags xD
so yeah, end of obs!
rly miss it lor, tdy wake up still thought i was slping in my tent :(
i wna hav watch/mobile outing soon heh!
